Studio
Whitmore & Grey was founded on a single conviction: that the most enduring interiors are those designed around a life, not a brief. Principal designer Charlotte Grey began her career in architectural practice before moving into interior design, bringing with her a commitment to spatial thinking that remains central to the studio's approach.
Today, the studio works across three distinct worlds — the London residence, the superyacht, and the coastal retreat. The spatial discipline of yacht design, where every decision must earn its place, has shaped an approach to residential work that values precision over abundance.
Based in Chelsea, the studio works with private clients across the United Kingdom and Europe, engaging with projects from initial concept through to installation and styling.
We do not decorate rooms. We design the conditions for a particular quality of life.
The Process
Discovery
Every project begins with conversation. We spend time in the space, observe how it is used, and understand what the client values above all else. This is the foundation everything else is built on.
Concept
We develop a spatial concept that answers the brief — not with a mood board, but with a material and spatial proposition. This stage resolves the fundamental questions of light, flow, and atmosphere before a single specification is written.
Realisation
We manage the project through to completion, working closely with contractors, craftspeople, and suppliers. Our role during installation is to ensure the design intent survives the gap between drawing and reality.
